Very significant was Brazilian Vasco da Gama's (#4) 41-point road victory against one of their biggest challengers ColombianMotilones 70-29 . The game without a history. Vasco da Gama led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Motilones to just 4 points in third quarter and to 12 points in second half. Vasco da Gama held Motilones to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.8 percent accuracy of the winners. Vasco da Gama forced 20 Motilones turnovers and outrebounded them 36-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Italian-Brazilian forward Magna Silva (202-1998) notched 12 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and guard Pedro Nunes (199-2000) supported him with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Vasco da Gama's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
